We need to dig deeper and get better with techniques, says Kieron Pollard | Cricket News

AHMEDABAD: West Indies skipper Kieron Pollard believes the visitors need to improve with their techniques if they are to win the ODI series against India.
India beat West Indies by six wickets in the first ODI on Sunday after spinner Yuzvendra Chahal went for four wickets. Rohit hit a 50 to lead the hosts’ charge.
“Of course losing with 22 overs to spare is not ideal. Not being able to beat 50 overs – we have to take stock. We have to dig deeper and improve with the techniques, again myself included,” Pollard said. after the game.
India folded West Indies for a paltry 176 and then chased the target from 28 overs to beat the visitors by six wickets.
“Having said that, it’s not the result we wanted, but credit goes to the guys for coming. The last three days have been tough. It was pretty wet and the ball was slipping. [later in the evening]. When we hit, he held on and turned,” Pollard said.
The West Indies skipper also mentioned the positive the visitors are taking away from the first ODI.
“We have to find a way. Jason and Fabian’s lower order stick. Joseph and Akeal Hosein did the job for us with the ball. Those are the positives. We’ll come back and see what happens,” said Pollard.
With the win, India took a 1-0 lead in the ODI three-game series.
