The most popular online game in the world right now

Over the past few days, if you’ve spent any time online, chances are you’ve seen people playing a new game and sharing their scores.

The fully internet-based word game is known as Wordle, whose grey, green and yellow boxes have taken the world by storm.

The word game is somewhat of a guessing game, where you will have a total of six attempts to figure out a five-letter word. Whether the letters of the word you guessed are in the correct or incorrect position is displayed on each attempt.

A report by Marketplace.org, an American business intelligence organization, revealed that Wordle has up to 3 million gamers worldwide.

The worldwide popularity of the game can easily be broken down by the fact that it is an easy source of adrenaline, no one has to spend money to get the game, and people can share their scores on the sites of social media like Facebook and Twitter which makes it quite interactive to some extent.

There is a daily urge for gamers to come back to the game due to its quite simple algorithm and doable way to have fun even in the face of extreme cases.

Wordle is not the first game of its kind, but it is certainly one of the first of its kind to be acclaimed and popular around the world.

The name of the game may be loosely based on the name of the founder, Josh Wardle, who has not yet monetized the game and has no plans to do so in the future, thus generating absolutely no revenue from the game .

“I’m a bit wary of mobile apps that ask for your attention and send you push notifications, to get your attention more. There’s no advertising either. I don’t do anything with your data, and that’s also quite deliberate,” founder Wardle said in a live interview with BBC Radio.

Wardle, while explaining his position, asked in the interview why anything can be not just for fun and why money has always had to be an issue.

He also added that he was financially comfortable and never intended to generate income from gambling.
